Salmon Fishing

Newfoundland has the highest number of productive salmon rivers in North America.  Its' many pristine rivers are home to the mighty Atlantic Salmon.  Here you can test and hone your skills trying to get that elusive fish to take your fly.  The Atlantic Salmon is pound for pound the mightiest fish alive and a thrill to have at the end of your line.  It has often been said that once you catch your first salmon you are hooked on the sport for life!  Salmon fishing is considered to be 'the sport of kings'.  Join us on our beautiful, scenic, pristine rivers and be a king for a day!

We do not recommend the salmon fishing for families with younger kids as a day activity if they are inexperienced due to the lack of action sometimes, resulting in boredom for the kids.  Salmon fishing requires some skill and practice to be efficient and productive.  However, in saying that, we would love to take you and the kids out if you wish to learn the art of fly fishing and with some teaching and luck, maybe help you catch your first Atlantic Salmon (pound for pound the strongest and most exciting fish to catch on a rod).

Please note our rental rods and reels are not top quality due to the experience levels and misuse by some guests, therefore if you are an experienced fisherman you may wish to consider bringing your own personal rod/reel combination

Trout Fishing

Northwest Pond Package: Accessed by truck.  A boat/motor and/or canoe is used.  This local lake is only minutes from the communities of Bloomfield and Musgravetown and is easily accessible through the Malcolm Brown Memorial Park in Musgravetown.  This lake is quick and easy to get to.  It is a popular fishing area for the campers in the park.  It can yield fish from pan size up to 1/2 lb.  It holds different species of trout (Speckled/Brook, Sea Run and German Brown Trout and Land Locked Salmon).  During season, the banks of this lake yields massive amounts of wild, delicious blueberries.

1 ADULT: $240.00; 2 TO 4 ADULTS: $170.00 each; FAMILIES (see below)

****

Island Pond Package: Accessed by truck.  A boat/motor and/or canoe is used.  This local lake is only minutes from the community of Morley Siding and is easily accessible through a local sod farm.  It is quick and easy to get to but has very little fishing pressure because it is surrounded by private lands.  It can yield fish from pan size up to 1 lb.  It holds different species of trout (Speckled/Brook, Sea Run and German Brown Trout and Land Locked Salmon).

1 ADULT: $250.00; 2 TO 4 ADULTS: $180.00 each; FAMILIES (see below)

Gull Pond to Morley Package: Accessed by both a truck and ATV.  A canoe is used.  This is a trip starts at Gull Pond and travels a series of ponds, steady waters and slow moving rivers out to Morley Siding.  The starting point, Gull Pond, is accessible using the old railbed.  This trip involves leaving an ATV at Morley Siding and then travelling to Gull Pond by truck.  You then travel down the water system back to Morley Siding where a trip on ATV is required in order to get the truck.  This is an all day trip and involves a few short drags on the canoe over some shallow places in some of the rivers.  This is a beautiful, relaxing trip.  Most of this system has very little fishing pressure because of the difficulty to get to the upper part and the lower part is surrounded by private farmlands.  This waterway can yield fish from pan size up to 1/2 lb.  It holds different species of trout (Speckled/Brook, Sea Run and German Brown Trout and Land Locked Salmon).

1 ADULT: $280.00; 2 TO 4 ADULTS: $210.00 each; FAMILIES (see below)

****

Salt Lake Steadies Package:   Accessed by truck or ATV.  A canoe is used.  These 3 ponds are all connected and require only a few feet of pulling the canoe to get from one to the other.  The main body of water Salt Lake flows into these steadies.  This water system is more remote requiring a drive past logging areas over a couple of logging roads.  It has little fishing pressure because most people spend their time fishing the lake next to it (Salt Lake).  It produces some great fishing.  It can yield fish from pan size up to 1/2 lb.  It holds different species of trout (Speckled/Brook Trout and Land Locked Salmon).

1 ADULT: $300.00; 2 TO 4 ADULTS: $230.00 each; FAMILIES (see below)

Cod Fishing

Spend a relaxing day with us on the ocean fishing for cod.  The cod fish was once a staple for Newfoundland's economy and it's people; now it is a very small by-catch fishery and food fishery.  We will take you out to many of the scenic, sheltered bays where you can try your luck at catching the big one.  These fish range from a couple of pounds up to 20 - 30 pounds.  When you hook one of these monsters on a rod you will know it!  At noon we will head for shore to have a 'boil up' on the beach.  A 'boil up' means to cook lunch over an open fire, and is usually the highlight of the day!!  This is where your 'fish tales' usually begin!  While fishing it is possible to see many species of whales, birds and other marine life.  Bald Eagles are often seen soaring high above.  This is truly a must thing to do!!!
